Srinagar: Amid tight security arrangements in Jammu and Kashmir, the first batch of Amarnath Yatra will leave for Srinagar tomorrow (Sunday) from Jammu.
Over 1.5 lakh pilgrims have registered themselves for the 40-day long yatra, officials said, adding that the first batch of the yatries will leave for Srinagar from Bagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu.
They said the pilgrims have arrived in Jammu and will leave for the pilgrimage tomorrow in State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses.
Officials told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that adequate arrangements have been taken to ensure smooth conduct of Amarnath yatra, adding that tight security arrangements are put in place also.
Earlier, Governor Satya Pal Malik has said that the Amarnath Yatra will be conducted smoothly, terming the peaceful conduct of pilgrimage as a challenge for his administration.
The Union Home Minister Amit Shah who was on a two-day visit to the Valley recently also took review meeting of the arrangements taken by the government for Amarnath yatra. He has also directed the security top brass and others to ensure smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
According to the officials, security gadgets, frisking equipments and CCTVs have been installed at the venue to keep a check on every movement.
Meanwhile, reports said that the government of India has deployed at least 40,000 security personnel as part of its multi-tier security arrangement for Amarnath Yatra.
It added that CRPF teams and health department ambulances will also accompany the pilgrims all along the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
