Afghan commander killed in Ghazni by Army soldiers ‘affiliated with the Taliban’

A commander of the Afghan National Army in the central province of Ghazni, was killed in an attack by two Army soldiers, affiliated to the Taliban, a spokesman for Ministry of Defense Fawad Aman said.

According to Tolonews, Colonel Abdul Mubin Mujtaba and other security officials were assessing the security situation of checkpoints along the Ghazni-Kandahar Highway when he came under attack by the suspected army soldiers.

One of the attackers was killed and another was wounded, the report said.

President Ashraf Ghani in a statement condemned the attack and said “terrorists” cannot weaken the morale of the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces by such heinous attacks.
