Four associates of accused Panch Latif Jagal have been arrested
Police have arrested four accused, while the Panch is still evading arrest in connection with an alleged abduction and rape case. Police have got the statement of the woman recorded in the court of law.
Police said that a woman lodged a written complaint at Police Station Hirpora here in South Kashmir’s Shopian district accused a Panch Latif Jagal of abduction, molestation and rape.
The woman named four other associates of Panch who helped Latif Jagal in abducting and raping her.
Police after receiving the complaint swung into action got the statement of the woman recorded in the Court of law.
The woman has alleged that Panch Latif Jagal with the help of his four associates abducted her and raped her for two days at a secluded location.
The accused Panch is the resident of Chek Amshipora village of Shopian.
“We have constituted a team to nab the accused Panch. He is still absconding. A formal FIR has been registered at police station Hirpora Shopian in this regard,” a police official said.
While the Panch was reported to be affiliated with the BJP earlier, Mohd Younus, District President of BJP in Shopian said that the accused Panch was not a part of the party.
“The rape accused is not associated with the BJP. He was associated with National Conference,” BJP wrote in a press communication.
National Conference has not commented on the matter so far.
