Pulwama: In a gunfight with armed forces, three militants were killed in Tral on Friday. One among them was Basit Ahmad Parray, who was the fourth son from the family to be killed in a gunfight.

In March 16, 2015, Ishaq Ahmad Parray, had asked his father if he could lend him Rs 1,000 for paying his tuition fees.

The father stood up, entered the next room, grabbed his waistcoat hanging on the wall to take out the money and gave it to Ishaq. That was the last time Mohammed Ismail Parray, saw his teenaged son alive.

On Thursday, March 3, 2016, almost a year after he went missing, he returned home on the shoulders of a raging crowd, wrapped in green, with a bullet-ridden face.

He had been killed in a gunfight with the armed forces, after joining militant ranks.

Ishfaq, was called Newton by his friends, because he was good at math. But Newton was not the only son from the Parray family to shun education and head to the forests of Tral to join militants. Basit Ahmad Parray, who was killed in the gunfight today, belonged to the same family.

Before Newton, Tariq Ahmad Parray from the same family had joined militants. After him, Shakoor Parray, and Basit picked up the gun.

Basit was killed in a gunfight in Tral today along with two other militants. The gunfight started late evening, and resumed in the morning after being suspended due to darkness, as per the armed forces.

As per police sources, Qaasim was active since March, 2017 and was pursuing a B.Tech Degree in Civil Engineering prior to joining militancy. After the killing of Hammad Khan he was made the commander.

As per police sources, two AK-47 rifles were also recovered from their possession.

The Parray family is yet to bury the dead-body of its fourth son.
