COVID: With 17,296 new cases India’s tally crosses 4.9 lakh, 407 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: In the highest spike in a single day, 17,296 cases and 407 deaths were recorded throughout the country. The total number of cases, currently, is tallying to 4,90,401 while the death toll stands at 15,301.

The recovery rate currently tallies to 58.24% as 13,940 patients were cured in a single day. The number of active cases throughout India tallies to 1,89,463.

The government aims at increasing the number of samples taken for testing so as to detect the virus before the victim socializes and spreads it further. In the wake of this, there are about 1,007 diagnostic labs throughout the country which are carrying out the testing for Covid-19.

As per the report by the medical body ICMR, 77.76 lakh samples have been tested till 25th June.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state with 1,47,741 cases and 6,931 fatalities followed by 73,780 cases in the national capital Delhi.
