Three militants killed in gunfight with armed forces in Tral, says police

All three militants belong to the Tral area of Pulwama district 

Pulwama: Three militants were killed in a gunfight at Chewa Ullar area of Tral in Awantipora of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The three militants have been identified by the police as, Mohammad Qaasim Shah alias Jugnu of Madoora Tral, Basit Ahmad Parray of Laribal Tral, and Haris Manzoor Bhat of Koil Shikragah Tral.

Qaasim was active since March, 2017 and was pursuing a B.Tech Degree in Civil Engineering prior to joining Militancy. Basit had recently joined militant ranks in May 2020 and was a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Haris had gone missing in April 2020.

As per police sources, two AK-47 rifles were also recovered from their possession.

Pertinently, the operation was suspended yesterday due to darkness, and the operation was resumed in the morning.

Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 42 RR and 180 BN of CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Chewa Ullar.
