Decomposed human leg found in river Sindh in Ganderbal

Srinagar: A decomposed human leg was found in a river in Ticbagh area of Nunner in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, on Friday.

Sources told Free Press Kashmir that a decomposed human leg was spotted by the locals this afternoon when the body part was floating in a rivulet at Tickbagh Nunner village.

“Soon after the leg was found, locals informed the concerned police station and the leg was retrieved from the river. Police with the help of locals retrieved the body part,” a local resident told FPK

In this regard, Police have registered a case and further investigations have been taken up.

“We have recovered a lower limb of a human and it has been sent to the hospital for medico-legal formalities,” SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal told FPK.

The central Kashmir’s district Ganderbal has been in the news recently as the area reported a number of drowning incidents forcing the district administration to impose a complete ban on bathing in nallah Sindh and in its tributaries.

“In view of frequent loss of precious lives due to drowning incidents while bathing/swimming in Nallah Sindh and as a part of precautionary measure, a complete ban is hereby imposed on swimming/bathing in Nallah Sindh & its tributaries in Ganderbal forthwith,” reads an order issued by the district administration on July 8, 2020.

On July 8, 2020, two dead bodies were recovered from the river (Nallah Sindh) and their bodies were handed over to their families.

Two days later, a group of locals spotted another body floating on the river in Gonch village and subsequently informed the concerned police station.
