COVID claims 10 more lives in JK, toll mounts to 359

Srinagar: Kashmir valley on Wednesday night reported ten more deaths due to novel coronavirus, taking the fatality count in Jammu and Kashmir to 359.

According to official sources, four deaths took place at CD hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the COVID patients, three at SKIMS Soura including a 55-year-old armed forces personnel, while two persons died at Government Medical College Baramulla and one, an 80-year-old man from Shopian, at District Hospital Pulwama.

The deaths reported from CD hospital include a 50-year-old woman from Batamaloo Srinagar, a 70-year-old Keegam Shopian, a man from Humhama Budgam and a 65-year-old man from Naseembagh Srinagar.

So far 234 deaths have been reported in Kashmir and 25 in Jammu division of the erstwhile state. Srinagar district with 106 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 69 Kulgam reported 27, Budgam is at 26, Anantnag reported 25, Shopian 22, Kupwara 20, Pulwama 19, Jammu 16, Bandipora 12, Ganderbal 6, two each in Rajouri and Doda and one each in Ramban , Poonch, Udhampur, and Kathua.

On Wednesday, authorities in JK informed that 540 new positive COVID cases- 151 from Jammu division and 389 from Kashmir, have been reported thus taking the total number of positive cases in the erstwhile state to 19419.

They informed that fifteen deaths have been reported; 1 from Jammu division and 14 from Kashmir Division in a day.

Moreover, 437 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 70 from Jammu Division and 367 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 19,419 positive cases, 7749 are Active Positive, 11,322 have recovered and 348 have died; 25 in Jammu division and 323 in Kashmir.
