With 613 new infections, JK COVID tally reaches 20,972

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday informed that 613 new COVID cases have been reported in the erstwhile state, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 20,972.

It also informed that 11 deaths due to the deadly virus were also reported from Kashmir division.

Moreover, 654 more patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 96 from Jammu division and 558 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 20,972 positive cases, 7,713 are Active Positive, 12,871 have recovered and 388 have died.

The bulletin further said that out of 6,47,271 test results available, 6,26,299 samples have been tested as negative till August 01, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 3,70,172 ravelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,128 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6 in Hospital Quarantine, 7,713 in hospital isolation and 41,038 under home surveillance.

Besides, 2,75,899 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration has also evacuated about 2,77,539 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 101 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 84,615 passengers while about 1,92,924 persons from other states and UTs including 904 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
