Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday informed that 463 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus were detected in JK, thus taking the total number of infections to 24390.
The erstwhile state also reported 10 fresh COVID deaths. Moreover, 449 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 181 from Jammu and 268 from Kashmir.
According to the daily bulletin, out of 24390 positive cases, 7264 are Active Positive, 16667 have recovered and 459 have died- 34 in Jammu and 425 in Kashmir division.
The bulletin further said that out of 706780 test results available, 682390 samples have been tested as negative till August 08, 2020.
Additionally, till date, 388741 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42012 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7264 in isolation and 47304 under home surveillance.
Besides, 291702 persons have completed their surveillance period.
According to the bulletin, of the total 24390 positive cases in JK 4876 have been reported as travellers while 19514 as others.
The bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
The bulletin has informed that the best way to protect themselves from COVID is by maintaining a physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitiser or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
