Man found hanging 3 weeks after losing house to gun-battle in Kulgam

Anantnag: A man, whose house was partially damaged in a gunfight between militants and armed forces last month, was found hanging inside his house in Nagnad village of DH Pora area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Official sources said that a middle-aged man identified as Bilal Ahmed Lone, son of Gul Mohammad Lone, a resident of Nagnad was found hanging this morning.

Soon after the news of the incident spread, officials said a police party reached on the spot.

“We have taken the cognizance and further investigations are going on,” said a police official.

Pertinently, on July 17, three militants affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit were killed in a gunfight in Nagnad village.

The gunfight had taken place in the house of deceased Bilal Ahmed and his house had suffered partial damage.

In this regard, Police said that “no house was damaged” during a gunfight on 17 July. However, one of the family members said that the house had suffered partial damage.

“On social media platforms, some miscreants are spreading sensitive updates regarding the matter that could emerge as a threat to peace and order.  SP Kulgam appealed all the people to make use of social media platforms in a careful and positive manner. He also warned that whosoever attempts to instigate the public by spreading baseless rumours and fake news having the potential to disturb the peace, will be dealt with strictly under the law.”
