Pulwama: Markets to reopen as per odd-even roaster from tomorrow

Srinagar:As part of relaxation in lockdown restrictions, market in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district shall remain open from tomorrow as per odd even roster, following of SOPs and guidelines pertaining to COVID.

In an order issued by District Administration under law and as per the government directives to operationalise odd-even roster in Pulwama to ensure that only 50% shops/business establishments remain open on a particular day.
The field officials have already numbered each shop in their respective market areas to ensure compliance of the same from tomorrow (Wednesday) onwards, the spokesman said.

This is an important COVID containment measure besides, fine shall be imposed as ordered earlier on those violating social distancing norms and other SOPs, the order mentioned.

The order issued pursuant to the State Executive Committee order permits reopening of 50 percent shops in all markets and resumption of public transport operations with a boarding of 50 percent passengers in minibuses and up to a maximum of 4 passengers in 10-seater maxi-cabs and 2 passengers in taxicabs and auto-rickshaws.

In a market alternate shops will open so as to prevent crowding and to enable queueing of customers as per the advised distancing norm.

The order reads that district administration has full faith in the business and trading communities of the district and is sure that there will be strict compliance with all SOPs and guidelines like wearing of face masks and observance of distancing while going about their businesses.

Tehsildars should be seen ensuring strict compliance of the odd-even roster from tomorrow morning along with their SHO’s while as Specified essential services shops can remain open on all days.

Concerned authorities have been authorised to take strict action against instances of non-compliance with instructions as issued under the order or violations of preventive guidelines and SOPs the government has devised in efforts to reduce spread of COVID.

To ensure strict compliance with SOPs and guidelines the government has devised in consultation with health experts, the district administration has reached out to managing committees of places of worship of all faiths and sensitised them about do’s and don’ts to prevent spread of COVID.

It is pertinent to mention that the essential supplies like medical shops, meat shops, fruit and vegetable shops etc shall continue to remain operational on all days

Meanwhile Masjids shall be opened for five times prayer with minimum worshippers and with social distancing. Any kind of other religious gatherings shall  not be be permitted and any violation on this account shall be viewed seriously.
