Three militants, 5 armed forces personnel killed so far as Baramulla gunfight continues

Srinagar: The third militant has been killed in an ongoing operation in Kreeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.

Official sources said that with the killing of one more militant, the toll of the slain militants has reached to three. They said besides militants, two armed forces personnel who had sustained injuries earlier have also succumbed to their injuries today.

Sources added that at the gunfight site, armed forces personnel have recovered one more pistol. Earlier, they said an AK 47 rifle and two pistols were recovered.

The third militant, according to reports, was hiding inside a hideout which was blasted by using IED. Meanwhile, searches are still underway in the area.

So far, 2 army personnel, two CRPF personnel, three militants and a JK police cop has been killed. The total number of deaths in Kreeri gunfight has reached eight.

In this regard, Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh while briefing a press conference on August 17, said that Top LeT Commander Sajad Haider from Sopore was among the two slain militants. Who as per DGP was instrumental in “recruiting new militants” and was the mastermind behind many “attacks” on armed forces personnel and political activists.
