701 fresh infections take JK’s COVID tally to 33,776, recoveries at 25,594

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Tuesday informed that 701 fresh COVID cases were reported today, thus taking the total number of cases in JK to 33,776.

The erstwhile state also reported 4 COVID deaths during the last 24 hours- 3 from Jammu division and 11 from Kashmir.

Moreover, 389 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 79 from Jammu division and 310 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 33776 positive cases, 7544 are Active Positive, 25594 have recovered and 638 have died; 50 in Jammu division and 588 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further said that out of 888127 test results available, 854351 samples have been tested as negative till August 25, 2020.

Till date 437664 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43416 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7544 in isolation and 41030 under home surveillance. Besides, 345036 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The administration added that it also evacuated about 3,52,381 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur  and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the administration has received 125 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 107,583 passengers while about 2,44,798 persons from other states and UTs including 928 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.

As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 3084 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from August 24 to August 25 mornings while 1037 passengers have reached today in the 104th Delhi COVID special train at Jammu. So far, 104 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 91,887 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
