Three local militants, one armed forces personnel killed in gunfight in Pulwama

Pulwama: Three militants and an army soldier were killed in a gunfight in Zadoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

The three militants killed have been dentified as Adil Hafiz from Dalipora Pulwama, Active since August 2019, Rouf Ahmad From Muspuna, active since 1 week, Arshid Ahmad from Drabgam Pulwama, active since 1 month.

All three were reportedly affiliated with the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen

Officials said that one army personnel also received a bullet wound and was subsequently shifted to 92 Base hospital in Srinagar where he succumbed.

The gunfight in Pulwamam broke out hours after four militants were killed in Shopian, when a joint team of Police, Army’s 50RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Zadoora.

Officials said that as the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. “The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.”

This is second gunfight in South in less than 24 hours as four militants were killed and one was “caught alive” in a gunfight in Shopian.
