1,578 COVID cases in 24 hours take JK tally past 50,000

Srinagar: In last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir has reported fresh 1,578 COVID infections, taking the overall tally past 50,000, officials informed on Friday.

This is for the ninth day in running that JK has witnessed over a thousand cases daily, taking the tally to 50,712.

With 73 travellers among them, official said 808 cases were from Jammu division and 770 from Kashmir valley, they said.

Giving the district wise breakup of the cases, they said, Srinagar reported 267 cases, Baramulla 43, Pulwama 34, Budgam 176, Anantnag 41, Bandipora 70, Kupwara 66, Kulgam 18, Shopian 8, Ganderbal 47, Jammu 415, Rajouri 64, Kathua 38, Udhampur 101, Samba 44, Ramban 27, Doda 26, Poonch 49, Reasi 2 and Kishtwar 42.

Moreover, they said, 474 more COVID patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 137 from Jammu and 337 from Kashmir.

Jk administration also said that it evacuated about 4,26,391 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur  and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the administration has received 142 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 1,26,058 passengers while about 3,00,333 persons from other states and UTs including 934 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
