3 militant associates with Pakistan links arrested in Ganderbal, says police ‘incriminating material recovered’

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three militant associates having links with Pakistani militant affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen, in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

In a statement, police said that on reliable information that three men namely Arshid Ahmad Khan, son of Mohd Altaf Khan,a resident of Wayil Wuder Gutlibagh, Majid Rasool Rather, son of Gh Rasool Rather, a resident of Beehama Ganderbal and Mohd Asif Najar, son of Abdul Razaq Najar, a resident of Beehama Ganderbal have come in contact with Pakistan based militant Fayaz Khan, a resident of Chanhar Gutlibagh, who has tasked them to take up militant activities in the area.

As searches were launched by a joint team of police station Ganderbal, PC Ganderbal and 5RR during the intervening night of September 14-15 and all three local youth were arrested and incriminating material was recovered from their possession including three hand grenades.

“The trio was instructed by their Pak handler to join militancy and undertake attacks on armed forces personnel in the area,” police said.

In this regard, police have registered a case under registration number 199 of 2020 U/S 13,18 UAPA 1967 at police station Ganderbal.
