Armed forces personnel injured during ongoing military operation against militants in Chrar-e-Sharief

Srinagar: An armed forces personnel was injured during an ongoing military operation against militants in Chrar-e-Sharief area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday evening.

Official sources said that armed forces personnel was injured during an exchange of gunfire with militants and subsequently shifted to 92 Base hospital for specialised treatment.

The armed forces personnel has been identified as Sepoy Naveen Kumar of A coy 53 RR. He has received a bullet injury in left leg.

The operation began after a joint team of Army’s 53RR and 181 battalion of CRPF and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police, launched an operation in Nowhar Mohalla of Chrar-e-Sharief following inputs about the presence of militants.

As per official sources, the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. “The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a fight between the militants and armed forces personnel.”
