Srinagar: A military operation was launched against militants in central Kashmir’s Chrar-e-Sharief area on Monday evening.
According to official sources, a joint team of Army’s 53RR and 181 battalion of CRPF and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police, launched an operation in Nowhar Mohalla of Chrar-e-Sharief after receiving inputs about the presence of militants.
As per official sources, the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. “The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a fight between the militants and armed forces personnel.”
Official sources said that gunfire has started and two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
