‘Same terrorists indulged in bloodshed’ during CAA, says Kangana as farmers hit streets, chaos in parliament over farm bills

New Delhi: Taking a dig at those protesting against the agri-marketing bills that were passed in Rajya Sabha, the controversial Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut said “same terrorists who indulged in bloodshed even as no citizen lost citizenship due to Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA)”.

The 33-year-old actress made these comments on her twitter handle while sharing a tweet by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, where he assured that his government cared for the farmers.

Kangana picked up one of the PM’s Hindi tweets saying: “I said it earlier and I say it once again: System of MSP will remain. Government procurement will continue. We are here to serve our farmers. We will do everything possible to support them and ensure a better life for their coming generations.”

Kangana quoted this tweet in reply to the PM, saying “Pradhan Mantri ji koee so raha ho use jagaya ja sakta hai, jise galatfehmi ho use samjhaya ja sakta hai, magar jo sone ki acting kare use aapke samjhaane ke kaya faraq padega? Ye wahin aantaki hein CAA se ek bhi insaan ki citizenship nahi gaee magr unhone khoon ki nadiyan bha dee. (sic)”

(Prime Minister Ji if someone is sleeping they can be woken up, someone’s wrong impression can be changed by explaining but how can you make a difference to somebody who is pretending to sleep? These are the same terrorists who indulged in bloodshed even as no citizen lost citizenship due to CAA.)”

Interestingly farmers across Punjab are protesting, and BJP’s ally and Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, has resigned in protest against two farm sector bills.

For this, Kangana received a lot of flak for equating Anti-CAA protestors and farmers with terrorists.

The actress claimed that “Pappu’s Champu army can fight only on the basis of rumours” and said that if anyone can prove that she had called the farmers as terrorists, she will apologise and quit the micro-blogging site forever.

Pappu is a word used by the right-wing for Rahul Gandhi.

“Those who were spreading lies about the CAA that led to the riots. The same people are now spreading lies against the Farmers Bill and are causing terror in the country. They are terrorists. You know well it is what I said. But you are happy to spread lies,” she wrote.

On Sunday, the Farmers’ and Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha amid vociferous protest by opposition parties.
