Arms, ammunition believed to be airdropped through drone recovered along LoC in Akhnoor, say officials

Srinagar: Armed forces personnel in Jammu’s Akhnoor subdivision on Tuesday recovered a consignment of arms and ammunition suspected to have been airdropped in an area inside Line of Control in the area, officials claimed.

Officials said that joint teams of army and police headed by SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma launched a Cordon and Search Operation in Akhnoor area, several kilometres inside Line of Control.

“The area is located at the point where LoC and IB join each other,” said officials.

They added that during operation, a well-packed bag was recovered with 2 AK assault rifles, 3 AK magazines, 90 AK bullets, 2 Pistols and pistol magazines along with bullets, which is believed to be airdropped with the help of drone at LoC.

“Operation in the area and further investigation into the matter is going on,” said an official.
