#JustIn: Political worker shot dead by gunmen at his residence in Budgam

Srinagar: A political activist was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in central Kashmir’s Budgam district late Wednesday.

The political worker has been identified as Bhupinder Singh who was the Block Development Council (BDC) Chairman of Khag, Budgam and a Sarpanch. Bhupinder was shot at his residence and was critically injured.

He was rushed to the nearby hospital; however, doctors declared him brought dead.

Quoting official sources, a report local news agency Global News Service, said that Singh had left his two Personal Security Officers in the police station Khag and left ancestral home alone without informing Station House Officer Khag.

Singh used to stay in Aloochibagh area of Srinagar and had gone Khag today. They said that he had contested election independently but was supported by PDP.

A police officer while confirming his killing said that whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
