Army officer killed in cross LoC firing in Rajouri

Rajouri: A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the army was killed in Nowshehra sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir after the armies of both India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control.

Officials on the Indian side said Pakistan army resorted to “unprovoked firing and shelling” of small arms and mortars along the LoC in Nowshera sector, to which “the Indian army retaliated strongly”.

In the incident, an army JCO got injured and succumbed to injuries later.

Officials have identified the slain armed forces personnel as Subedar S Singh.

Officials added that “intense shelling is going on in the area and Indian army is retaliating befittingly”.
