Former MLA Udhampur accuses district Admin of ‘hooliganism’, threatens Tehsildar of ‘dire consequences’

Udhampur: The former MLA of Udhampur and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party President, Balwant Singh Mankotia along with dozens of his supporters on Friday held a protest demonstration against “harassment of the general public in the name of Coronavirus”, in Udhampur district.

In a video viral on social media, Mankotia accused the district administration of mismanagement that often causes inconveniences among the masses amid the COVID outbreak.

“The government of India had issued a guideline wherein they said that no movement will be prohibited in any red zone in India, but in Udhampur the situation is completely opposite,” he said in a viral video clip that was shared on his Facebook page.

Mankotia while addressing the gathering, said: “we won’t get any rapid tests done and people having COVID symptoms should only do it not everyone”.

Referring to the health officials, he said: “in case they pay a visit to your house for tests, shoo them away by beating them with shoes.”

The former MLA of Udhampur said that a new form of “hooliganism” has been unleashed in the name of rapid testing, saying that the public “won’t wear any masks and reject social distancing” if such “harassment” continues from the administration.

Attacking the local Tahsildar, Mankotia alleged that the local representative has been asking to “put up a Parcha” in his name – and said that he will ensure the Tehsildar is behind bars.

“Some people have wrongly assumed they can put up a Parcha and land me in jail for a night, but they’re unaware that I’m not scared to go behind bars,” he claimed.
