Armed forces personnel ‘assault’ chicken seller in Srinagar, kill his poultry, police ‘assures action’

Srinagar: A chicken seller from Saidakadal-Rainawari area of Srinagar on Saturday accused the armed forces personnel of physically assulting him without any reason and killing his poultry.

The vendor alleged that some youth pelted stones on the armed forces personnel and fled from the spot; however, the furious personnel of CRPF pounced on him and hit his head with gun-butts.

“They also broke my cell phone and mutilated my chicken,” the vendor said, adding that he has been running his shop from past 15 years and has never indulged in an act that is against the law.

“But today I was targeted for no reason at all when I was busy selling my poultry,” he added.

The chicken seller whose video is also viral on social media said it is unfortunate that his chicken were killed and mutilated by the personnel of armed forces.

In this regard, the vendor said that he has spoken to the police officials and they have “assured action”.

Meanwhile, Srinagar based CRPF spokesperson, Pankaj Singh said that he will ascertain the facts about the matter.
