Hours after announcing date sheet, JKBOSE reduces 40% syllabus for class 10, 12th students

Srinagar: Hours after issuing date sheet for the annual examination of 10th and 12th class students, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has reduced 40% of the syllabus for their examinations scheduled to be held from November 9, 2020.

The students appearing in the annual examination have been asked to attempt only 60 per cent of the questions, which will be considered as 100 per cent.

In this regard, the announcement was also made by the advisor to Lieutenant Governor K K Sharma.

Taking to social networking site Twitter, Sharma wrote: “Annual Regular Exams for class10th & 12th will commence from 9th &10th Nov resp for Kmr & winter zone of Jammu. BOSE increases relaxation by 40℅, Students to attempt 60℅ marks which will be raised to 100%. Done in interest of Students.Exams will end on 27th Nov & 9th Dec resp.”

Earlier, Joint secretary examination JK BOSE, Dr Aijaz Ahmad Hakak told Free Press Kashmir that board has framed date sheet which is “student-friendly”.

“We have already delayed examination by one month so that student will get enough time for the preparation. I am sure students are well prepared and I wish them the best of luck. They will shine in the exams,” he said.

Keeping in view the COVID tensions, Hakak said that there will be proper arrangements for the students during examinations.

“We have designated double examination centres than earlier so that social distancing is properly maintained,” he added.

As per the date-sheet, class 10th exams will start from Monday, November 9 with vocational subjects and second paper, with one day gap, is mathematics.

Class 10th has 1 to 5 days of gap between the papers while class 12th has 1 to 7 days of gap between the papers.
