Militants flee after brief exchange of gunfire with armed forces in Pulwama, searches on

Srinagar: Militants, one of them purportedly a top JeM commander, have managed to flee after a brief exchange of gunfire with a joint team of Police, CRPF and army in Parigam area of Pulwama in south Kashmir on Thursday, officials said.

A police senior officer said that as per specific inputs two militants including Jash-e-Mohammad commander with the code name “Lambo Bhai” were trapped.

The officer said that militants “seem to have fled” soon after the operation against them begun. However, the officer said that the searches in the area are continuing.

The operation which lasted for a brief span of time had ensued after a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Parigam village this afternoon.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, ensuing the operation.
