Jammu: A 42-year-old man died after he was “assaulted” with a sharp edged weapon by another man in Rehari Puli area Jammu district on late Saturday evening.
An official said that a man identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of late Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Ustaad Mohalla, Jammu was assaulted by one Gurpreet Singh, son of Inderjeet Singh, a resident of Sector 10 Nanak nagar with a sharp edged weapon at Rehari Puli in the evening hours, a local news agency KNO reported.
He said the man was critically injured and was taken to GMC Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries while the accused was on the run.
The official said that following the incident a case under FIR No.148/20 u/s 307 IPC 4/25 IAA was registered at police station Pacca Danga and investigation was started.
“Police party comprising of SHO Pacca Danga and IC PP Rehari raided the probable places and arrested the accused,” he said.
The official added that under the supervision of SDPO North city, crime scene was preserved while vital evidences were gathered and further investigation into the matter was going on.
