Armed forces personnel ends life by shooting self in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian: An Armed forces personnel ended his life on Wednesday night after shooting himself with his service rifle in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said.

They said that the army man identified as Chandra Patil of 62 Headquarters shot himself with his service rifle, while on duty at Zawoora Manloo.

The cause of him taking this extreme step remains unknown for the time being, they said.

Meanwhile, a police official while confirming the incident told news agency GNS that a case has been registered in this regard and further investigations taken up.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, the similar incident was reported in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.

They said that the BSF personnel identified as Head Constable Bharinder Singh of 118 Battalion shot himself with his service rifle and died on the spot in Tanghdar area of the district

Officials added that a case has been registered in this regard and further investigations have been taken up.
