MeT predicts wet weather from December 7 in JK

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir’s Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted two-day wet spell from December 7 and light snowfall in the higher reaches during the intervening night of December 4 and 5.

MeT officials said that a light spell of snowfall and rain is expected on plains and light to moderate snowfall in the higher reaches of the Valley and Ladakh between December 7 and 8.

Meanwhile, Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded minus 1.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which experienced several feet of snowfall on various occasions last month recorded a low of minus 2.5 degrees Celsius.

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir was the coldest place in Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 1.8  degrees Celsius. Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded 0.4 degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered minus 0.8, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 10.8 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 10.5, Banihal 6.2, Batote recorded 8.0 and Bhaderwah 2.9 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
