Kokernag: A district Development Council (DDC) candidate from Kokernag belt of South kashmir’s Anantnag district was on Friday attacked by unidentified gunmen leaving him critically injured.
An official said that a DDC candidate namely Anees-Ul-Islam affiliated with JK Apni Party, who filed his form as DDC candidate from Sagam Kokernag block, was shot at and injured in Sagam area of the belt.
The official added that Anees has received bullet injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, another official while confirming the incident, said that area has been cordoned by the armed forces personnel and searches are going to.
