MeT predicts dry weather for next 30 hours, snowfall on December 7, 8

Srinagar: A local meteorological department on Saturday predicted dry weather for the next 30 hours and moderate to heavy snowfall on 7 and 8 December in Kashmir and Ladakh.

An official from MeT department told Free Press Kashmir that there are 90% chances of moderate snowfall (with isolated heavy fall) during 7 and 8 December on higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh including the areas like Gulmarg, Zojila, Banihal-Ramban top. However, weather is likely to remain dry till December 6 evening.

“This system is likely to give more snowfall on northern parts of Kashmir. Besides, Drass Sonmarg axis, plains of JK and Zanskar-Drass are likely to get light snowfall/rain, said the official, adding “Another snow spell is predicted on December 12-13 (may change slightly in coming days, predictability up to 60%)”.

He added that the snow spell may lead to the disruption of traffic movement on roads including  Zojila and  Mugal Road.
