Pipeline blast in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar kills 2 persons, several others injured

Gujarat: Two people died and another four were injured in a pipeline blast in the Kalol city of Gujarat’s Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

A report by India Today said that besides deaths and injuries, two houses also collapsed due to the blast.

Initially, it was said to be an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) pipeline, however, the company in a statement clarified that the pipeline does not belong to ONGC.

ONGC in a statement said: “An unfortunate gas leakage took place at around 09:30 hours today in a gas pipeline in a residential area near ONGC’s Kalol field. ONGC confirms that this pipeline, where the accident took does not belong to ONGC. As a responsible corporate citizen, ONGC Ahmedabad Asset is in touch with the State Govt. Machinery for fire and safety support. ONGC fire tenders have rushed to the spot and ONGC, Crisis Management Team has been instructed to be on standby for any kind of exigency and support.”
