14 doctors found absent at MCCH Anantnag, Medical Superintendent to explain their cause of absence

Anantnag: Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag K K Sidha along with Chairman MC, and other officers on Sunday visited Maternity and Child Care Hospital SherBagh Anantnag. He inquired about the Medicare facilities and heating arrangements being provided to the patients. During the visit, DC inspected various wards and sections of the hospital.

On the occasion, DC found 14 Doctors absent from their duties and directed Incharge, Medical Superintendent to explain their cause of absence.

During the visit, many attendants raised the issue of unnecessary referrals and sought DC’s intervention in this matter. They also demanded the establishment of a canteen to cater needs of the patients as well as attendants coming to the hospital from remote areas of Districts of South Kashmir and Banihal.

The DC also made an extensive visit of various markets of Anantnag Town including Lal Chowk, Reshi Bazar, Sheer Bagh, Mattan Chowk, Iqbal Abad, KP road, Gen. Bus Stand and old KMD Bus Stand to take stock of the snow clearance from footpaths, interior roads and all transport stands. He also monitored snow clearance operations at General Bus stand to ensure easy movement of public and traffic.

During the visit, he directed Municipal authorities to ensure clearance of footpaths and check that the shopkeepers and vendors don’t encroach footpaths. He also directed Municipal Authorities to issue legal notices to the erring shopkeepers.

The DC during the visit, ceased two clinics where Govt Doctors were found practising during their duty hours besides violating COVID SOP’s and Guidelines. He also ceased NITCO transport Company for wrong parking of heavy trucks causing difficulties for the general public and local transport.

Moreover, the Municipal Council and line departments have been directed to ensure prompt delivery of essential items and services to the general public besides addressing their emergency demands with utmost preparedness.
