Man arrested for burglary in Bandipora, stolen property recovered: Police

Bandipora: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have arrested a man for burglary in Bandipora district of north Kashmir and recovered stolen property from his possession.

In a statement, police said: “Police Station Sumbal received a written complaint from one individual namely Mohmad Lateef Mir, son of Ghulam Mohmad Mir, a resident of Trigam Sumbal stating therein that during the intervening night of 09/10 January 2020, some unknown burglars looted his Kiryana shop located in village Trigam”.

Accordingly, a case FIR No 03/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation was set into motion.

During the investigation, police said officers zeroed in on a suspected person identified as Firdous Ahmad Mathanji, son of Mohmad Subhan Mathanji, a resident of Ashtangoo Bandipora. During questioning, he confessed his involvement in the commission of the crime and on his disclosure stolen property has also been recovered.

He has been arrested and shifted to the Police Station where he remains in custody, police said.
