Delhi police issues look out circular against farmer leaders named in 25 FIRs

New Delhi: Following the clashes between protesting farmers and police on January 26, Delhi Police is reportedly going to issue a lookout circular against the farmers’ leaders named in the 25 FIRs. The leaders will also be asked to surrender their passports, reported news agency PTI.

Over 30 leaders, who have been in talks with the GoI for the last two months over the three farm laws, were booked for ‘rioting, criminal conspiracy, attempt to murder and robbery’.

The police, according to a report by The Indian Express, said: “the rioters/protesters and their leaders had a pre-planned objective of not following the mutually agreed route” leading to the violence. At least 19 people have been arrested and 50 detained in connection with the violence so far.

The report quoting sources said that GoI wants to resume talks with farmer unions only after its offers are accepted. “They lost a good opportunity… They have (now) lost the moral authority. Now, we have to see whether they accept that offer or they come with a counter proposal,” a source was quoted as saying.
