Anantnag police seize huge consignment of Codeine Phosphate, accused arrested

Anantnag: The Jammu and Kashmir on Monday claimed to have seized huge consignment of Codeine phosphate and arrested one person during naka checking in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

An official told news agency KNS that police station Anantnag seized a huge quantity of Codeine phosphate during naka checking at Mehandi Kadal yesterday.

He said that a case FIR No. 25/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Anantnag and one accused has also been arrested. “Further investigation into the matter is going on and more recoveries area also expected.”

The official said that this was a coordinated effort of SHO Anantnag, Rashid Khan, duty officer General bus stand Manzoor Ahmed and duty officer Khanabal, Manzoor Ahmed under the supervision of DySP headquarters Nikhil Borkar.

He said that the officers have been working in coordination to curb the drug menace in the district and make it drug free.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Anantnag, Sandeep Chowdhary told KNS that the police officers have been directed to gear up to curb drug menace in the area.

SSP also sought the public participation to identify the drug dealers in curbing the drug menace.

Meanwhile, general public of Anantnag has hailed the efforts of the police in general and senior police officers of the district in particular.
