Srinagar: A Search Operation was launched by Armed Forces in the Hari Singh High Street area of Lal Chowk in Srinagar. Civilians were mass frisked and their belongings checked.
The massive drive much like the “90’s crackdown” comes days after an attack by militants in Baghat area of Srinagar that killed two policemen.
A local shopkeeper told Free Press Kashmir that the foces randomly began the operation and asked people to stand in queues while frisking and checking them.
“It is like the crackdown of the 90’s is back. I have not seen this in a long time, even though I am not seeing this for the first time,” a local who runs a jewellery business in the area said.
