Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society JKCCS, the organisation founded by Rafto Laureate 2017 Parvez Imroz, was honoured with the 23rd Tji Hak-soon Justice and Peace Prize.

The prestigious South Korean award is given to grassroots human rights groups who have shown commitment to protection of human rights and work for justice and peace.

“The Rafto Foundation for Human Rights is very pleased to hear that JKCCS is recognized with this award in a difficult time for the human rights movement in Kashmir, when the cost of speaking truth is rife with risks. The award honours and supports the commitment of JKCCS to work for human rights, truth and justice. We have the greatest admiration for our friends in the JKCCS, and congratulate them, their colleagues, and the hundreds of volunteers who have worked with them in challenging times” states Executive Director of Rafto Foundation Jostein Hole Kobbeltvedt.

The award was presented online 12 March 2021, from the Chungmu Art Hall Convention Center in Toegye-ro, Seoul.
