Kulgam: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two persons for raping a woman in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
In a statement, the police said: “Police Post Mirbazar received a specific information that a girl (name withheld) was being raped by two persons namely Hafiz Farooq Parray, son of Farooq Ahmad Parray and Ubaid Ayoub Raina, son of Mohd Ayoub, both the residents of Gadihama Kulgam inside a Vehicle bearing registration Number JK18A-6426 near FCI Mirbazar.”
The statement added that on tip-off Police party from Police Post Mirbazar led by I/C PP Mirbazar Sub Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad under the supervision of SHO Qazigund Irshad Reshi and SDPO Qazigund Mohd Shafiq-JKPS rushed to the spot, rescued the woman and arrested the two culprits also vehicle used for commission of the crime was seized.
Subsequently, Case FIR No 63/2021 U/S 376, 109 IPC was registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation was initiated in the instant matter.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities the girl was handed over to her legal heirs. Further investigation of the case is going on, the statement added.
