17-hour long CASO ends in Srinagar, no militant found

Srinagar: A 17-hour long Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), which was launched by armed forces in Gulab Bagh, Zakura area of Srinagar on Tuesday night ended on Wednesday afternoon after no militant was found in the area.

The operation began after a joint team of armed forces including JK Police, CRPF and Army launched a CASO on Tuesday night in Gulab Bagh locality of Srinagar city following specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Additional armed forces were rushed to further seal all entry and exit points. However, in the morning forces fired some shots towards the building in which they were suspecting the presence of militants but no response was given from inside the house. The operation was called off this afternoon after no militant was found.

A police official told Global News agency that it was a huge building due to which it took them a long time to carried out searches. Some tear smoke shells were also fired inside the building, however, there was no response from the other, the official said.

Hence after 17 hours the operation was called off and the joint team retrieved from the site, the officer added.
