Verinag: A fire broke out in the Thaman Kot area of Verinag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday afternoon, engulfing at least three residential houses.
According to reports, the blaze spread to three houses, prompting the deployment of Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who were working to bring the flames under control. Further details regarding the cause of the fire, the extent of damage and any possible casualties were awaited.
As winter sets in, fire incidents often raise concerns across Kashmir, where residents rely on traditional heating appliances, electric heaters and other heating methods to keep their homes warm.
The increased use of heating equipment, coupled with faulty electrical wiring and other potential fire hazards, can heighten the risk of residential fires during the colder months.
Authorities routinely urge people to follow fire safety precautions and ensure proper maintenance of heating appliances to prevent such incidents.
