Man arrested with 45 liquor bottles in Anantnag, says police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a man and recovered 45 bottles of liquor from his possession in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

In a statement, police said: “A police party of Police Station Anantnag headed by DO Police Post Bus stand at a checkpoint established near Post Office Anantnag intercepted one person identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Shah son of Ghalum Qadir Shah resident of Lok Bawan Larkipora. On checking, 05 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Anantnag where he remains in custody.”

A case FIR number 90/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Anantnag and investigation was initiated.

During the course of the investigation, it was learnt that he has kept illicit liquor at his rented house located in Chee area of Anantnag, police said, adding the team raided the location and recovered 40 more bottles of illicit liquor in presence of a magistrate.
