New Delhi: India’s total tally of COVID cases crossed 1.50 crore with a record single-day rise of 2,73,810 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases surpassed the 19-lakh mark.
According to the Health Ministry of India, the total tally of COVID cases mounted to 1,50,61,919 and the death toll increased to 1,78,769 with a record 1,619 daily new fatalities.
Registering a steady increase for the 40th day in a row, the active cases have increased to19,29,329 comprising 12.81 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID recovery rate has dropped to 86 per cent. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,29,53,821, while the case fatality rate has further dropped to 1.19 per cent, the data stated.

The weekend curfew which began in Delhi from Friday will be extended through the week till next Monday. The fresh restrictions come as the national capital continues to witness a record number of cases.
According to the latest coronavirus tally, Maharashtra has overtaken California (USA) as the state/province with the highest number of cases in the world. While Maharashtra numbers stand at 3.84 million, California is 3.72 million. Ten states/UTs report more than 10,000 new cases, while five states/UTs report more than 100 new deaths.
Delhi government has announced a one-week long curfew till next Monday 5 am amid rising COVID cases in the state.
