Srinagar: Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar highway was closed on Friday following a massive landslide in Ramban district, officials said.

The landslide, according to officials, occurred in the Seri area of the district, leading to the closure of the thoroughfare, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world.

However, there was no loss of life or injury reported in the incident, they said.

Meanwhile, SSP Ramban P D Nitya told Global News Service that clearance work on the thoroughfare is going on to restore the highway.

Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police had earlier issued a statement on its Twitter handle saying “subject to fair weather and better road conditions light motor vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar highway viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.”
