Hurriyat (M) dismayed over termination of 11 Govt employees by JK Admin for ‘anti-India activities’

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Monday expressed strong dismay and denounced the dismissal of 11 government employees by the JK administration.

In a statement, Hurriyat said that more than twenty people have so far been removed from services in this whimsical manner, contrary to all norms of justice and fairness, under the guise of being a “threat to the security of the state”. Those dismissed are mostly unaware of the exact nature of the charges against them leave alone getting a chance to contest them.

The statement said that already post-August 2019 the new laws introduced and being implemented by the GoI and JK administration, deprive the people of J&K of employment opportunities in their own land and now with such arbitrary actions, even those employed are uncertain about their future and live in fear of being removed in this abrupt manner. Hurriyat termed the move “an absolute abuse of power”.

In times of COVID when economic hardship faced by people is on the rise, the rulers of the land are least thoughtful of the consequences such harsh actions will have on those dismissed and their families, the statement said.

Hurriyat said that it asks the administration to revoke this “authoritarian order” or give those dismissed a fair chance to challenge the charges if any, leveled against them.

The statement said Hurriyat is also deeply grieved and shocked by the news of the death of a 25-year-old young woman from Kulgam who hanged herself, as her husband is in jail on charges of militancy.

“The cost of the lingering conflict is being borne by the people of Kashmir each day in different ways,” Hurriyat said.

On July 10, 2021, Jammu and Kashmir administration terminated eleven employees from their services in the “interest of the nation” as per constitutional provisions.
