‘Chevening for Kashmir’: Group launches mentorship program for aspiring Kashmiri students

A group of Kashmiri Chevening Scholars have launched ‘Chevening for Kashmir’ – a pilot mentorship programme to help Kashmiri applicants with Chevening scholarship and university applications in the UK.

The mentorship programme is organised as part of Project EduAccess, an upcoming non-profit initiative aimed at pioneering action towards improving inclusivity in higher education institutions by removing access barriers for marginalized communities in South Asia

Through this Mentorship programme, they seek to connect potential applicants from Kashmir with Kashmiris who have successfully completed the Chevening scholarship and university admission processes. All mentors are current or past Chevening Scholars from Kashmir from diverse educational backgrounds e.g, law, architecture, urban planning, engineering, literature etc.

Through specially designed one-on-one mentorship sessions, these Mentors will help Mentees with scholarship and university applications including drafting personal statements, statements of purpose, writing samples, CV, and other application documents. In addition to the Chevening Scholarship, Mentors will offer advice on other scholarships e.g, the Commonwealth, Felix, Inlaks and other funding avenues.

The Mentorship programme is open for all Kashmiri students with an undergraduate degree. The applicants are required to fill an Application Form and send a CV to [email protected] by 1 August 2021.
