COVID: 41,831 infections, 541 deaths reported in 24 hours in India

New Delhi: India, in the last 24 hours, reported 41,831 COVID cases, slightly more than Saturday’s count, according to data from the Health Ministry of India.

As many as 541 deaths linked to Coronavirus complications have been reported, while 39,258 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is currently at 97.36%

Kerala continues to report half of the total caseload in the country, In view of the fresh surge, the Kerala government imposed a complete lockdown during the weekend.

The government of India on Saturday said 46 districts spread across 10 states have a positivity rate of over 10%. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan yesterday reviewed the COVID situation in 10 states that has been witnessing an increasing trend in daily cases.

He urged these states to impose stricter restrictions in districts with a positivity rate above 10 percent.

The 10 states that were reviewed were North-Eastern states, Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Southern states of Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha in the east.

The GoI has also released 15 percent of the amount under the COVID Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness (ECRP-II) Package to the states to improve health infrastructure.

The Health Ministry further said that more than 48.78 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/Union Territories so far, and a further 68,57,590 doses are in pipeline. Of this, total consumption including wastages is 45,82,60,052 doses.

India’s vaccination coverage surpassed 46.72 crores, more than 53.72 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 7 on Saturday.
