Drones being tested for aerial surveillance in Srinagar ahead of August 15

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday tested drones to be used for aerial surveillance on August 15 in Srinagar.

Top police officials from police station Kothi Bagh including SDPO Ghulam Mohiuddin and SHO Muhammad Ishaq took stock of the situation in Lal Chowk, Budshah Chowk, Residency Road, and in its adjacent areas.

Official sources said that Police continue to search for suspected persons who may create law and order problems ahead of August 15. They said that searches are being conducted in residential areas, rented houses, and hotels.

A police officer said that forces have been deployed across Srinagar following a recent grenade attack at Amira Kadal and the subsequent arrest of a man along with two live grenades in the heart of the city.

Multiple check-points have been created to keep an eye on suspected persons, the officer said.

The officer added that armed forces have been placed on high alert. He said they have tightened the arrangements and instructions have been given to the police personnel to keep a vigil on suspicious elements. (KNT)
