FIR registered for sharing ‘communally sensitive’ content on social media in Kishtwar

‘Action to be taken against those who furthermore share the video’

Kishtwar: Police on Tuesday said that it has registered an FIR against a video shared on Social media in district Kishtwar of Jammu division.

In a statement, the police said that yesterday a video was in circulation on social media showing the Skin of Bovine animal. Considering the sensitivity of the video clip with respect to communal harmony in the area cognizance was taken and a case FIR No.206/2021 has been registered in Police Station Kishtwar under relevant sections of law. The cyber cell of the District Police was activated, teams were constituted, and deputed for the arrest of accused persons.

The statement further stated that subsequently, few suspects have been picked up for questioning and facts are being ascertained.

After the preliminary investigation, it surfaced that the video was reportedly shot in a nallah of Palmar area of Police Station Kishtwar, they said.

Furthermore, the social media users are warned not to circulate any video which will disturb the peace and communal harmony of the area, otherwise, action under law shall be initiated against them, reads the statement.
